Fluid Mechanics

Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics deals with the behaviour of fluids at rest and in motion.

Fluids are substances which are capable of flowing and which conform to the shape of containing vessels.

Liquid fluids are practically incompressible whereas gases are compressible.

Liquids have free surfaces whereas gases expand until it occupies the vessel.
